Although nominated for four Tony Awards, the Broadway revival of A Little Night Music will play its final performance on June 20, 2010, one week after the June 13 awards ceremony at Radio City Music Hall. The musical will have played 20 preview and 217 regular performances at the time of closing.
Tony-nominated stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury were scheduled to depart A Little Night Music on June 20, but producers originally announced plans to run through at least August 29 with new leads. The production, which originated at London's Menier Chocolate Factory, had previously showed box office weakness during vacation weeks for Zeta-Jones and Lansbury.
A Little Night Music, which opened on December 13, 2009 at the Walter Kerr Theatre, is also competing for Tonys in the categories of Best Revival of a Musical and Best Sound Design of a Musical.
